Beyond the process of finding open HDMI and USB ports on the back of my TV, there was literally no further setup for me. Belkin doesn't include a longer cable or a wall plug, so you'll have to MacGyver it if your TV doesn't have the port.īelkin claims that the Miracast Video Adapter is easy to setup, and it wasn't kidding. Belkin includes a two-foot long USB cord to plug into the back of your TV, but if you don't have a USB port you'll be stuck using an extension cable and a USB wall plug. Most modern TVs have USB ports on the back, but they may not always provide enough power to run accessories ("service" ports are often this way). Just like the Chromecast, the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter requires external power. It's about 50 percent larger than a Chromecast, and between its thickness and unfortunate placement of the USB port it can be a tad too big to fit in most HDMI ports on TVs - Belkin does include an HDMI extender at least, which you'll likely need. It doesn't have to look fancy, and it doesn't - this is a black plastic dongle with a USB port on the side and an HDMI plug on the end. This is a device that's going to sit (hopefully) behind your TV.
